Blue Cross Blue Shield (Blue KC) has some great health and wellness articles as well as many classes/webinars during the month of June.  Please see the information below for details.

Don't Get Burned Out: Sun safety
Have a Safe Summer: Water, sun, and heat safety tips for the whole family

All below mentioned webinars are free of charge for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City members.  Non-members are allowed to participate in the webinars, but there are non-member fees associated with some of them.   One time presentations are free of charge for everyone . Each webinar online description indicates whether or not there is an additional participant fee for non-members that participate.
The following are series webinars.  If you are unable to view the "live" session, you can view the recording-it will be emailed to you within 24 hours of the live presentation:

Nutri-Wise:  Tuesdays, June 5 through July 24 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.
This program is designed to provide participants a firm foundation of nutritional knowledge, practical strategies to improve food choices and motivation to reach weekly goals and continue healthy eating habits.  Facilitated by a registered dietitian.
The following webinars are available for viewing 24 hours a day; 7 days a week, all month long :

Know Your Numbers
Blood pressure, cholesterol, lipids, glucose, BMI... the numbers go on and on! But what do they mean? Participants will learn what their numbers mean and what they can do to improve their numbers, and when these numbers indicate it's time to see a healthcare professional.

Thinking About Quitting
Participants will learn they have a choice and smoking is a habit that can be broken. The instructor will discuss barriers to quitting, local resources for quitting, and review the latest in tobacco-cessation aids.

Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic Syndrome is a combination of medical disorders that increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. This class focuses on five factors that commonly make up this syndrome and ways to decrease the risk of developing each condition.
Balanced Budget, Balanced Diet
Participants will learn to save money while preparing healthier meals! This class focuses on organizing meals, creating shopping lists, using store ads/coupons and more.
Strength Training: Anytime, Anywhere
Strength training is an important component of overall fitness. Believe it or not, you don't have to hit the gym to do it. This class will teach simple tips and techniques for fitting strength training activities into everyday life.
